I also really like the part where you are descending into the bunker and wish more of Lightfall had that art style (and there was more action rather than just running through) It is a shame as the rest of the mission is pretty good, especially the bit outside. People did it without even talking about it. When it was the weekly mission that seemed to have just become the default method when I was doing LFG. The seasonal story felt short, but had way more impact and higher stakes than the actual campaign. I especially like the way that they’re as hard as the heist battlegrounds, but feel more balanced – the way that they have darkness zones throughout means they feel genuinely dangerous. And the defiant battlegrounds are tremendous – they’re challenging, but not ridiculously so. That said, while I was a bit down on it at first, Strand is tremendous fun to play around with, and feels incredibly powerful. The campaign is a bit underwhelming, and the post-campaign stuff mainly seems to consist of being told to go to a Vex incursion zone and grind out bounties and public events. They even seemed to have screwed up the mystery around what the Veil is, in that I don’t really understand what the mystery is supposed to be – you’re given so little information on it that it’s hard to be invested in figuring out what it is and what it’s for. It’s meant to be this war-ravaged pocket of resistance that’s been holding out against the Vex for hundreds of years, and is so dangerous they have to stuff volunteers full of advanced tech that’s so powerful and unstable that it kills them in ten years, which sounds intriguing but the end result is a beige, boxy city that’s largely empty except for that goon Nimbus. Exploring abandoned cities on Venus and Europa felt like you were uncovering secrets and venturing into uncharted territory Neomuna feels like you’re on a city break to Dubai. I’m not that impressed with Neomuna as a location – I feel that a hidden human city in the clouds of Neptune that’s lain undiscovered for centuries should have more of a sense of mystery and excitement about it, but as presented in the game, it’s a sparse, relatively generic futuristic city that seems blandly comfortable. It’s not bad, but it’s definitely a bit of a curate’s egg this expansion.
